IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 4: The new proposal for a deep sea port has been announced for Dadanpatrabarh after it was stated that the proposed Tajpur deep sea port project may not be feasible. According to the announcement made on Thursday, the state government has decided to explore an alternative plan, shifting focus from Tajpur to Dadanpatrabarh.

It has been reported that discussions regarding the Tajpur project were also held with the Adani Group. However, the government has stated that there is not enough land available for the project at the original Tajpur site. As a result, a new plan has been formulated with Dadanpatrabarh, located about 10 kilometres from Tajpur, as the proposed hub. The state reportedly has around 1,700 acres of land under its ownership in the area.

The announcement also highlighted broader infrastructure development plans, including the integration of Kolkata into the Water Metro project. Previously, 17 cities have been included under this initiative. The state is also set to join the second phase of the Sagarmala project, with proposals worth ₹22,700 crore being prepared over the next five years.

The development plans aim to improve port connectivity, strengthen coastal fishing infrastructure, and enhance overall maritime facilities in the region. In addition, beautification work of six ghats, including Bagbazar and Ahiritola, is expected to be completed before the upcoming festival season.
