Arup Biswas Finally Appears at Police Station After Avoiding Summons Thrice
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 18: The avoiding police summons three times, former Sports Minister Arup Biswas finally appeared at Bidhannagar South Police Station on Thursday.
He arrived at the police station shortly before 10 am. Earlier, police had issued multiple summons to Arup Biswas, but he had repeatedly skipped appearing for questioning.
It is noted that the Calcutta High Court has granted him protection, while also directing him to cooperate with the investigation. The case relates to an alleged incident of chaos during football star Lionel Messi’s visit to the Yuva Bharati Krirangan last December.
The incident, event organiser Satadru Dutta filed a complaint at the police station, based on which an FIR was registered. The complaint included allegations of extortion, threats, and other charges. After multiple instances of avoiding appearance, Arup Biswas has now finally appeared before the police for questioning.
