Hurricane Hilary Intensifies as it Tracks towards California

California (August 21,2023) : Hurricane Hilary has intensified into a Category 2 hurricane as it tracks towards California. The storm is currently located about 1,100 miles (1,770 kilometers) south-southeast of San Diego, California, and is moving northwest at 10 miles per hour (16 kilometers per hour).

Hilary is expected to make landfall in California on Wednesday as a Category 3 hurricane. The storm is forecast to bring heavy rains, strong winds, and flooding to the state. The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane warning for the coast of California from San Diego to Point Conception. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the coast of California from Point Conception to San Luis Obispo.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautions, such as securing loose outdoor objects, stocking up on food and water, and evacuating if necessary. The hurricane is also expected to bring heavy rains to Mexico. The Mexican government has issued a tropical storm warning for the coast of Mexico from Cabo San Lucas to La Paz. Hilary is the ninth named storm of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season. The season officially began on June 1 and is expected to end on November 30.
