IIE Digital Desk : At least 31 people have been killed and 74 injured in flash floods that have swept through Afghanistan, the United Nations said on Tuesday. The floods hit the western and southwestern provinces of Badghis, Herat, and Farah on Monday, destroying homes, roads, and bridges. The UN said that the floods have also caused widespread damage to crops and livestock, and that thousands of people have been displaced.

The UN has called for urgent assistance for the affected people, and said that the floods have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, which is already facing a severe drought and economic collapse. The UN said that the floods are a "stark reminder of the vulnerability of Afghanistan to climate change."
