IIE DIGITAL DESK : March 26: Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and producer Bhushan Kumar have officially announced their collaboration on a new Bollywood film titled Operation Sindoor, a cinematic project inspired by the real‑life military strikes carried out by India following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. The announcement has generated significant interest in the entertainment industry, with both creators highlighting the importance of portraying this chapter of recent military history on the big screen. 

The film will be directed by Agnihotri and produced jointly by T‑Series, led by Bhushan Kumar, and I Am Buddha Productions, Agnihotri’s own production house. It is adapted from the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan, authored by Lt Gen K.J.S. “Tiny” Dhillon (Retd). The book delves into India’s strategic deep‑strike operations against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, where militants targeted civilians, prompting a decisive military response. 

According to the makers, Operation Sindoor will dramatize the planning, execution, and impact of these strikes, grounding the narrative in detailed research and accounts drawn from the book. The project aims to go beyond conventional war film tropes, presenting a story anchored in strategy, sacrifice, and national resilience. Both Agnihotri and Kumar have expressed that the subject deserves thoughtful storytelling, with Kumar noting that some stories “choose you” due to their weight and historical significance. 

The film follows a growing trend in Indian cinema of adapting real military and geopolitical events into feature films, appealing to audiences’ appetite for stories rooted in recent history and national security themes. Project announcements like this often draw public and media attention for both their subject matter and the credentials of the creative team behind them.
