IIE DIGITAL: Several Bollywood celebrities have recently voiced their support for the students protesting at Jantar Mantar, and Rajkummar Rao has now joined them. However, his statement soon drew criticism from some social media users, who reminded him of his appearance in the song ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’. In response, Rajkummar appeared to suggest that he had been under some kind of pressure when he took part in the song. He later deleted the comment, but screenshots of his response had already begun circulating online.

The controversy began after Rajkummar shared an Instagram post expressing solidarity with the students protesting over the NEET question paper leak in Delhi. One user questioned his participation in the promotional song, which also featured several other Bollywood personalities. The comment accused the actor of compromising his principles and disappointing fans who had admired him for years.

Rajkummar reportedly responded with a lengthy comment, which he later removed. Screenshots of the deleted reply, however, quickly spread across social media. In his response, the actor maintained that he could never compromise his principles or ‘sell his soul’. He also argued that appearing in a single song should not be used to define his identity, beliefs or the causes he supports. Rajkummar added that people who know him personally are aware of the kind of person he is and said he has always stood by what he believes is right.

It was his remark about people never understanding the ‘pressure’ he faced that caught the most attention. Many users interpreted it as a possible reference to his participation in ‘Modi Hai Toh Mumkin Hai’. However, Rajkummar did not clarify what kind of pressure he was referring to, nor did he explicitly claim that he had been forced or coerced into appearing in the song.
