IIE Digital Desk : Indian actor Harshvardhan Rane has responded to Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane's accusation that his decision to exit the sequel of their 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam was a publicity stunt. The controversy erupted after Mawra criticized India's Operation Sindoor, a military operation in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, labeling it as "cowardly." In reaction, Harshvardhan announced he would not participate in the sequel if Mawra remained involved, citing her remarks as disrespectful to his country.

Mawra responded by dismissing Harshvardhan's exit as a "PR strategy," expressing disappointment that someone she once respected would use the situation for attention. She stated, "While our nations are at war, this is what you come up with? A PR statement to get attention? What a pity!"

In his rebuttal, Harshvardhan emphasized that his decision was not a publicity move but a matter of principle. He criticized Mawra's response as filled with "so much hate" and "personal remarks," stating that he had not attacked her dignity and had maintained a respectful stance. He further clarified that his actions were driven by a commitment to his nation's dignity, not media attention.

The dispute highlights the intersection of personal beliefs and professional decisions in the entertainment industry, especially amid heightened national tensions. The future of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 remains uncertain as the controversy continues to unfold.
