On Friday, before the Canada vs Bosnia match at the stadium in Toronto, she mesmerized the audience with her energetic dance moves and powerful stage presence.
Nora Fatehi performed the tournament’s official anthem “Sir Sir” alongside French singer Vegedream and producer Sanjoy. The multilingual track, created with a blend of Arabic, English, French, and Moroccan Darija languages, carries the meaning “Come on, move forward.” Accompanied by a large group of dancers, Nora delivered a visually stunning performance that added excitement and colour to the opening ceremony. Videos of her performance quickly went viral across social media platforms, receiving widespread appreciation from fans around the world.
Several internationally renowned artists were also present at the opening ceremony, including Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Michael Bublé, Eliana, Jessie Reyez, and William Prince. The event began with a tribute to Canada’s Indigenous communities and their rich cultural heritage. During the tribute, the football stadium was illuminated with red, white, and golden lights, reflecting the colours of the Canadian national identity and creating a memorable visual experience.
Alessia Cara’s performance, Nora Fatehi entered the stage wearing a stunning red outfit and instantly transformed the atmosphere with her vibrant presence. Her dance and performance to the beats of “Sir Sir” generated massive excitement among the spectators and became one of the biggest highlights of the evening.
Nora described it as a “homecoming” for herself. She had once left Toronto to build her career in India, and therefore returning to the city to perform on a global stage like the FIFA World Cup was an emotional and proud experience for her.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is being jointly hosted by three countries — the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It is the largest edition in the history of the tournament, featuring a total of 48 teams. The grand final of the prestigious football tournament is scheduled to be held on July 19.
