Farhan Akhtar to Return on Big Screen as R.D. Burman in Upcoming Biopic

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Mumbai, June 12: Bollywood actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar is set to make a major comeback on the big screen, this time portraying the legendary music director Rahul Dev Burman, popularly known as R.D. Burman. The upcoming film will be based on the life and legacy of the iconic composer, with Farhan playing the lead role. The project will be directed by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Kamal Jain.

The shooting of the film is expected to begin towards the end of 2026. The biopic aims to showcase R.D. Burman’s immense contribution to Indian music, while also highlighting the broader landscape of the Indian film and music industry during his era in a parallel narrative.

The film is expected to offer a detailed portrayal of how R.D. Burman revolutionised Indian film music and left an everlasting impact on generations of musicians and listeners.

Uncertainty continues over Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated film “Don 3.” Reports suggest that actor Ranveer Singh had opted out of the project due to creative differences. Following this, Excel Entertainment reportedly filed a legal case seeking compensation of ₹45 crore from Ranveer Singh, taking the matter to court. As a result, the future of the project remains unclear, leaving fans waiting for further updates.
