The fresh threat comes just a few months after an alleged firing incident outside Rohit Shetty's residence in Juhu, where four rounds of gunfire were reportedly fired. Investigators are now examining whether the latest message is directly connected to that earlier incident.
The audio message received by Rohit Shetty's team, the previous firing outside his residence was described as merely a "trailer." The message reportedly warned that if the demand for ₹20 crore was not fulfilled, the next attack would not miss its intended target.
The threatening message allegedly stated, "The firing outside your Juhu residence four months ago was only a trailer. If the demand for ₹20 crore is not met this time, the bullets will not miss the target."
Police sources said the audio clip was allegedly sent by a person identified as Shubham Lonkar, whose role and possible links to organised criminal networks are now under investigation. Authorities are examining the authenticity of the message, tracing its origin and verifying whether it has any connection with previous threats received by the filmmaker.
Considering the seriousness of the alleged threat, Mumbai Police have initiated a detailed investigation and are collecting technical evidence to identify everyone involved. Security agencies are also analysing digital records and communication channels used to transmit the audio message.
As of now, no arrests have been officially announced in connection with the case. Police have not yet confirmed the identity of those responsible or the alleged involvement of any organised crime syndicate, stating that investigations remain at a preliminary stage.
The latest incident has once again raised concerns over the safety of prominent personalities in the Indian film industry, particularly in light of several high-profile extortion and threat cases reported over the past year. Authorities are expected to continue their investigation while taking appropriate security measures based on the findings of the probe.
