IIE Digital Desk:The 75th Emmy Awards were held after being delayed due to writers’ and actors’ strike. Among the winners who caught attention was actor Jennifer Coolidge who won her second Emmy. The actor received the prestigious award for her TV show ‘The White Lotus’ but what put the spotlight on her was her hilarious speech that left the audience in splits.
Coolidge began her speech as she put down the award next to her and said, “I don’t have the strength to hold the award.” She went on to give a shout out to her director, Mike White and thanked him for the role. “And he says I am definitely dead, so I am going along with it,” the actress said as her character died at the end of the second season of the show. Coolidge did not forget her ‘murderers’ in the show as she gave them a shout out. I just want to say, I want to thank all the evil gays. Yes, Paolo, Francesco and Bruno, thank you,” she quipped. The actress concluded by saying, “I had a little dream in my little town, and everyone said it was impractical and far-fetched. But it did happen after all, and so don’t give up on your dreams. Thank you.”
Coolidge won against the likes of Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza, and Simona Tabasco, Rhea Seehorn, Elizabeth Debicki and J Smith-Cameron to win the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama series.
