IIE DIGITAL: Bengal is preparing to make a strong pitch for global investment as it seeks to position Bengal Silicon Valley as a preferred destination for international technology companies. The state government is expected to showcase the project before leading businesses and investors at Confluence 2027, scheduled to be held in the United States next April.
A strategy meeting held in Kolkata on Monday focused on attracting multinational companies, particularly from the US, to invest in the state's growing technology ecosystem. Chief Minister's Principal Advisor Subrata Gupta said the government plans to leverage the global Bengali diaspora to promote West Bengal as an attractive and sustainable investment destination.
Officials believe the state offers several advantages, including a large pool of skilled professionals, competitive operating costs and an improving industrial ecosystem. The initiative also aims to create employment opportunities locally, encouraging talented graduates to build their careers in Bengal instead of relocating to other states.
To strengthen investor confidence, the government highlighted recent policy reforms, including a single-window clearance system for large-scale projects, designed to simplify approvals and accelerate industrial investments.
Confluence 2027 organiser Rahul Roy said the event would provide an opportunity to present Bengal's strengths in information technology and emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence to global investors. Industrialist Harshavardhan Neotia added that showcasing the region's infrastructure and business-friendly environment would be key to attracting long-term investment.
While information technology remains a major focus, the state also plans to seek investments across multiple industries as part of its broader economic development strategy.
