Sensex, Nifty Fall as Stock Market Opens on Wednesday
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; June 3: The stock market began trading on Wednesday morning with both Sensex and Nifty showing a downward trend from the opening bell.
By around 11:30 AM, the Sensex had dropped nearly 903 points from the previous session, standing at 73,746. Meanwhile, the Nifty index fell by around 255 points to settle at 23,228.
Market experts have attributed the decline to renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia, a sharp rise in global crude oil prices approaching nearly $100 per barrel again, and continuous selling pressure by foreign institutional investors in India.
Analysts are now watching closely to see whether the market will fall further by the end of the day or recover partially due to value buying from investors in the falling market.
