The incident took place in the backdrop of rising dissatisfaction among a section of party workers and local residents, who accused the Birbhum MP of neglecting grassroots concerns and remaining absent during key community crises.

As the event unfolded, a group of agitated individuals began chanting slogans demanding accountability from Satabdi Roy, questioning her prolonged silence on pressing developmental issues and lack of presence in the constituency. The demonstrators expressed anger over what they described as growing disconnect between the MP and her electorate, despite repeated appeals to address local problems like poor roads, irregular electricity supply, and lack of healthcare infrastructure.

Eyewitnesses reported that although the gathering was intended to discuss party strategies ahead of the upcoming elections, the atmosphere quickly turned tense as the protestors disrupted proceedings, calling for new leadership and greater transparency. Security personnel were present at the venue to ensure order, and no violence was reported. However, the vocal dissent reflected a shift in mood among certain party loyalists in the district.

Satabdi Roy, a two-time MP known for her earlier career in Bengali cinema, has previously faced criticism for limited engagement with her constituents. While party sources downplayed the incident as an isolated outburst, opposition parties seized the moment to question the Trinamool Congress’s internal stability and its outreach efforts in rural Bengal.
