NIA Conducts Raid at Shaukat Molla’s Residence; Search Operation at TMC Leader’s House
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Canning, June 4: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a raid at the residence of former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Shaukat Molla, launching a search operation early Thursday morning at his house located in the Jibantala area of Canning in South 24 Parganas. Officials of the investigating agency arrived at Shaukat Molla’s residence and began a detailed search operation. The party office adjacent to his house was also searched by the investigators.
Preliminary reports suggest that Shaukat Molla was not present at his residence at the time of the raid. According to NIA sources, the search operation is linked to the investigation of the bomb blast incident in the South Bamnunia area of Bhangar, where a person was killed and several others were injured just days before the last Assembly elections. The incident had triggered demands for an NIA probe from the ISF, the party led by Nawsad Siddique, after which the investigation was handed over to the agency.
Thursday, the NIA is carrying out searches at a total of nine locations across the state in connection with the Bhangar blast case.
