
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; North Dinajpur, June 5: The shocking incident has come to light from Chakulia area of North Dinajpur on Friday, where four people, including children, were injured after a powerful explosion occurred when they mistook a bomb for a toy ball. The incident took place in Pagalpur under Sahapur No. 2 gram panchayat, triggering panic across the locality.
The local sources, a group of children was playing in an abandoned tin shed in the morning when they spotted some round objects inside. Believing them to be balls, they began tossing them around while playing. Suddenly, one of the objects exploded with a loud blast, shaking the entire area.
The incident, an 8-year-old boy named Dilwar suffered severe injuries and is reported to be in critical condition. He was initially taken to Chakulia Health Centre, but due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment.
Three other people, including two women, were also injured in the explosion. All the injured individuals are currently undergoing treatment.
The incident, Chakulia police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the entire area. The abandoned shed where the explosives were found has been sealed by authorities. Police have launched an investigation to determine who stored such a large quantity of explosives there and for what purpose.
Locals have demanded strict action and immediate arrest of those responsible for storing the explosives in a residential area, putting innocent lives at risk.
