West Bengal (July 25,2023) : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appointed former Karnataka Police Director General Rupak Kumar Dutta as her new security advisor. Dutta, a 1984-batch IPS officer, was serving as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka before he retired in February this year. He is a native of West Bengal and has served in the state police force for several years.

Dutta's appointment comes in the wake of the recent security breach at Banerjee's residence in Kolkata. In May, a man posing as a journalist managed to enter Banerjee's residence and take a photograph of her. Dutta is expected to strengthen Banerjee's security and prevent any future security breaches.
