West Bengal (July 07,2023) : Ismailia Welfare Party of India (ISF) MLA Nawsad Siddique has moved the Calcutta High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a rape case. The case was filed against Siddique by a woman who alleged that he raped her in 2019. Siddique has denied the allegations, saying that the woman is making false accusations against him. He has also said that he is willing to cooperate with the police investigation.

The Calcutta High Court is likely to hear Siddique's bail plea on Wednesday. The case against Siddique has sparked political controversy in West Bengal. The ISF is a small but influential party in the state, and Siddique is one of its most prominent leaders. The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of shielding Siddique because he is a member of the ISF. The TMC has denied the allegations, saying that the law will take its course in the case.
