IIE DIGITAL DESK : Lenovo has officially launched its much-anticipated Legion Y70 (2026) gaming smartphone in China, marking the company’s return to the high-performance gaming phone segment after nearly four years. The new handset was introduced at Lenovo’s May 2026 launch event alongside the Legion Y900 gaming tablet.

The Legion Y70 (2026) runs Android 16 out of the box and is built to appeal to mobile gamers and performance enthusiasts. It sports a large 6.82-inch 2K display with up to 144 Hz refresh rate, 510 ppi pixel density, and a 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, promising smooth visuals and vibrant colours. Lenovo also claims the panel is more power-efficient than many existing displays. The phone is resistant to dust and water with IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings

Under the hood, the Legion Y70 (2026) is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset fabricated on a 3 nm process, delivering top-tier performance for gaming and heavy workloads. It can be configured with up to 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1 TB UFS 4.1 onboard storage for large game libraries and apps. Preliminary benchmarks suggest the phone scores impressively on performance tests.

One of the standout features of the device is its 8,000 mAh “Star Ring” battery, supported by 90 W wired fast charging via USB-C. Lenovo claims the battery can last up to two days of mixed use, and its longevity is backed by a design that should retain performance over a long lifecycle.

Photography capabilities include a dual rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel main sensor coupled with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, along with a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The phone’s thermal performance is boosted by Lenovo’s new cooling system featuring high-conductivity materials to manage heat during extended gaming sessions.

Pricing in China starts at CNY 3,099 (roughly ₹44,000) for the base 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage model. Mid-range configurations such as 12 GB + 512 GB and 16 GB + 256 GB are priced around CNY 3,699 (~₹53,000) and CNY 4,099 (~₹58,000), respectively. The top variant with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage costs about CNY 4,899 (around ₹70,000). The Legion Y70 (2026) is available in Carbon Black and Ice Soul White colour options and is currently on sale in China via Lenovo’s online store.

The launch signals Lenovo’s renewed push into gaming-focused smartphones, positioning the Legion Y70 (2026) to compete with other high-end gaming devices and deliver strong performance, long battery life, and premium display quality.
