IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Augsburg, Germany, October 5: Germany suffered another setback in the UEFA Nations League after being held to a goalless draw by Greece on Sunday night. Despite dominating the attacking play for much of the match and creating several opportunities, Germany failed to find the back of the net.

The result means Germany have now failed to win three of their first four matches in the competition. Their only victory so far came against Serbia, while the latest draw against Greece has once again raised questions about their consistency under new head coach Jurgen Klopp.

Germany controlled much of the match and repeatedly pushed forward in search of a breakthrough. They managed 13 shots during the game, with three efforts on target. However, the Greece goalkeeper produced important saves to keep his side in the contest and deny Germany from taking the lead.

Germany also appeared to have found the breakthrough at one stage, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review. The decision further frustrated the German side, who were unable to convert their territorial and attacking dominance into a decisive goal.

Despite Germany’s pressure, Greece remained organised defensively and held on to secure another valuable point. The result also allowed Greece to maintain their unbeaten record in the competition after four matches.

Germany currently have five points from four games and sit third in Group 2 of League A. Their position leaves them with further work to do in the remaining fixtures if they are to improve their standing and push for progression in the competition.

Greece, meanwhile, are in second place with eight points after recording two victories and two draws. They remain unbeaten and are level on points with group leaders Netherlands, who occupy the top position.

In another match in the group, Netherlands defeated Serbia 2-1 to move to the top of the standings. The result added further pressure on the teams below them, while Serbia suffered their fourth defeat in as many matches.

With the group still to be decided, Germany will now be looking to turn their strong performances into victories in the remaining matches. Their inability to secure wins consistently has left them in a challenging position, despite their ability to dominate possession and create attacking opportunities.

The goalless draw against Greece therefore represents another missed opportunity for Germany. With the Nations League entering a crucial stage, the German side will need to improve their finishing and convert their chances if they are to make a strong push in the competition.
