IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, March 24 — The 47th edition of the All India Major Port Hockey Championship 2026 kicked off on Tuesday in Kolkata, bringing together some of the top port teams from across the country in a spirited display of sporting excellence. The tournament was formally inaugurated at the SAI Complex in Salt Lake, marking the beginning of a four-day competition filled with high-energy matches and competitive action.

The opening ceremony witnessed the حضور of senior officials from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority, who played a key role in organizing the prestigious tournament. Their presence underscored the importance of the championship in promoting sportsmanship and camaraderie among India’s major port institutions.

Scheduled to run from March 24 to March 27, the championship features participation from six prominent teams representing major ports across the country. The competing teams include SMPA Kolkata, MBPA Mumbai, PPA Paradip, CHPA Chennai, VOC Tuticorin, and VPA Visakhapatnam.
