Kohli Breaks Alex Hales’ Record for Most 50+ Partnerships in T20 Cricket
IIE DIGITAL DESK : May 23: Virat Kohli could not play a big innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, managing only a brief knock of 15 runs off 11 balls. Despite the short stay at the crease, the Indian batting legend entered the record books once again.
Kohli has now surpassed England batter Alex Hales to become the player involved in the most 50-plus partnerships in T20 cricket. This achievement marks another milestone in his long and consistent career in the shortest format of the game.
The Indian star has now been part of 211 fifty-plus partnerships in T20 cricket, moving ahead of Hales, who has been involved in 210 such partnerships. This record highlights Kohli’s consistency and his long-standing ability to build crucial partnerships across different matches and tournaments.
The all-time list, former Australian batter David Warner stands third with 200 fifty-plus partnerships, followed by Pakistan captain Babar Azam with 196, and West Indies legend Chris Gayle with 191.
Even though Kohli’s recent innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad was short, his record-breaking achievement once again underlines his dominance and consistency in T20 cricket over the years.
