The Scorpene is a type of conventional submarine that is designed to be stealthy and maneuverable. It is equipped with a variety of weapons, including torpedoes, missiles, and mines. The submarines will be built at the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai.

The MoU is a significant boost to India's submarine fleet. The Scorpene submarines will be a major addition to the Indian Navy's capabilities and will help to deter aggression in the Indian Ocean region.
