IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Manali, Himachal Pradesh, October 3: Himachal Pradesh’s popular hill station Manali is witnessing a massive influx of tourists as visitors from different parts of the country arrive to enjoy the mountain landscape during the extended holiday period. The heavy tourist footfall has resulted in severe traffic congestion on several hilly roads, causing considerable inconvenience to both tourists and local residents.

Long queues of hundreds of vehicles have been reported at the entry points to Manali, along Mall Road and on several major roads in and around the town. The situation has been particularly challenging on routes leading towards Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel, where traffic movement has slowed down considerably due to the large number of vehicles.

Tourists travelling towards the popular destinations have been forced to remain stuck in traffic for long periods. Many vehicles have been moving at a very slow pace, with congestion stretching across several sections of the mountain roads. The increased traffic has also added to the difficulties faced by local residents who use these roads for their daily travel.

To manage the situation and keep traffic moving, additional traffic police personnel and police teams have been deployed at key locations. Authorities are closely monitoring traffic movement and attempting to regulate the flow of vehicles at congested points, particularly on routes witnessing heavy tourist movement.

The surge in visitors is also being reflected in the local hospitality sector. Hotels, resorts and homestays in and around Manali are witnessing a significant increase in tourist occupancy as travellers take advantage of the holiday period to spend time in the hill town.

Manali remains one of Himachal Pradesh’s most popular tourist destinations, attracting visitors with its scenic mountain landscape and access to destinations such as Solang Valley and the Atal Tunnel. However, the sharp rise in tourist arrivals during the weekend has also highlighted the growing pressure on the hill town’s road network.

With more visitors expected to travel through the region during the holiday period, traffic management has become a major challenge for the local administration. Tourists travelling towards Manali and nearby attractions are being advised to plan their journeys accordingly and remain prepared for delays on busy mountain routes.
