In a message shared through social media platform X, the Prime Minister highlighted the crucial role played by farmers in sustaining the nation and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving their quality of life through various welfare and development initiatives.
Emphasizing the importance of the agricultural community, Prime Minister Modi stated that the country's farmer brothers and sisters form the foundation of India’s food security system and are indispensable to the nation’s economic and social well-being. He noted that the government remains dedicated to making the lives of farmers easier, more secure, and more comfortable through a range of policies designed to strengthen agricultural productivity and rural livelihoods.
The Prime Minister pointed to several flagship schemes launched by the Central Government that are aimed at supporting farmers financially and protecting them from uncertainties associated with agriculture. According to him, initiatives such as the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana have played a significant role not only in safeguarding farmers’ incomes but also in strengthening the agricultural sector as a whole.
The PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, eligible farmers receive direct financial assistance from the government, helping them meet agricultural expenses and improve their economic stability. The Prime Minister indicated that such direct benefit programs have contributed to enhancing the confidence of farmers and ensuring greater financial inclusion within rural communities.
The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Modi emphasized that crop insurance has become an important safety net for cultivators facing risks from natural disasters, adverse weather conditions, and crop failures. By providing financial protection during difficult periods, the scheme has helped reduce uncertainty and encouraged farmers to continue investing in agricultural production.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the impact of the PM-KUSUM Yojana, which promotes the use of solar energy in agriculture. He stated that the scheme is enabling farmers to benefit from renewable energy sources for irrigation and other farming activities. The adoption of solar-powered systems, he noted, is helping reduce cultivation costs while simultaneously supporting the country’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy practices.
