The late-night operation was undertaken as part of efforts to clear the busy stretch and facilitate road widening, while a heavy police deployment was put in place to prevent any untoward incident.

The eviction and demolition drive was conducted late on Tuesday night by a joint civic and administrative team. Bulldozers and heavy machinery were brought in to remove structures that had reportedly been identified in advance for clearance as part of the road expansion plan.

Officials said prolonged encroachment along the important road had been causing serious disruption to traffic movement. The congestion was particularly problematic for ambulances and vehicles involved in emergency services, prompting the authorities to take action to clear the road and improve accessibility.
