IIE DIGITAL DESK ; June 30, 2026 | Mumbai : Television actress Akanksha Chamola has opened up about the real reason behind her separation and impending divorce from actor Gaurav Khanna, revealing that their differing views on parenthood ultimately led to the end of their marriage. Speaking emotionally on the reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, Akanksha said that while Gaurav wishes to have children, she has realized that she wants to remain child-free, making their future together incompatible. 

Akanksha shared that when they first got married, she never felt a strong maternal instinct but remained open to discovering whether those feelings would develop over time. As the years passed, however, she became certain that motherhood was not the path she wanted for herself. She explained that although Gaurav initially accepted her decision, his perspective gradually changed and he developed a strong desire to become a father. According to Akanksha, she knew she could never fulfil that wish, making it unfair for both of them to continue the marriage.

She revealed that she had informed Gaurav long ago that she did not see herself becoming a mother. During one of their conversations, she even told him that he would be justified in leaving the relationship because many people choose marriage with the hope of building a family and raising children. Akanksha said she later realized, especially after Gaurav spoke publicly about wanting children during Bigg Boss 19, that his wish to become a parent had become stronger. She felt she should not prevent him from pursuing the future he wanted. 

When asked whether she would consider adoption instead of having biological children, Akanksha made her position clear by saying she wanted to remain child-free for personal reasons and wished to live her life with that freedom. She indicated that her decision was not limited to pregnancy but reflected her overall outlook on parenthood.

Earlier, while announcing the separation, Akanksha had disclosed that she and Gaurav had been living separately for the past year before deciding to make the news public. She described the decision as mutual and emphasized that there is no bitterness between them. According to her, they continue to speak with each other respectfully and simply came to realize that they envisioned very different futures. She explained that despite appearing together socially and supporting one another publicly, they no longer felt like a married couple. Their families had hoped that living separately for some time might help revive the relationship, but that did not happen. 

Akanksha also recently said that she is not planning to fall in love again anytime soon, adding that she wants to enjoy her independence after spending much of her adult life in marriage. Having married at a relatively young age, she said she now wishes to focus on herself and embrace her personal freedom before considering any new relationship. 

The revelations have generated widespread discussion on social media, with many people appreciating the couple's candid conversation about compatibility and differing life goals. While the end of their marriage has saddened many fans, Akanksha's statements have also sparked broader conversations about personal choice, marriage, and the importance of partners sharing similar expectations regarding parenthood.
