“Whatever Happens, I Stand with Mamata,” Says Kunal Ghosh

Kunal Ghosh Statement
Kunal Ghosh Statement

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 1: Despite having numerous grievances, frustrations, and complaints against the Trinamool Congress leadership, Trinamool MLA Kunal Ghosh has made it clear that he stands with Mamata Banerjee.

Monday, he wrote on the social media platform X, “Let me clarify my position again. I am with the Trinamool Congress. I have had, and still have, many complaints, anger, and grievances against the leadership. I oppose certain actions of the party and the arrogant, immature behavior of some leaders, mistakes in recognizing capable individuals, and ignoring experienced and qualified workers. I am against favoritism and personal ambition. I do not approve of self-interest. Some even tried to destroy my life with defamation. I have committed no intentional wrongdoing. Back then, none of today’s so-called revolutionaries spoke up.

Yet, I have remained a soldier of the party.

The state assembly elections, the party leader has given me the nomination. As a legislator, I am with the party’s symbol. It has been less than a month since the election results, yet already there are instances of rebellion and betrayal in the party? So why did we stand with them? When Didi became Chief Minister, many would have lobbied to become ministers. And now, suddenly, citing various reasons, some are creating distance? This is cowardice. I will openly discuss the party’s working methods in party meetings. If necessary, I will speak publicly. But I will remain by the party’s side. If that does not work, then we will see later. Why so much attempt to assign ‘blame’ already? Surely, there are no other hidden motives behind it? Many of those who have received numerous responsibilities, positions, and powers from the party—how many are visible now? Where are the others? During good times for the party, they sought power, photos, selfies; in bad times, they tremble with fear? Afraid to be an opposition MLA? Brave only when on the government side? After becoming a legislator on behalf of the party, to raise complaints about party meetings without informing the party, directly to the opposition? This is major betrayal. The workers will judge. The leader will reorganize the party. Couldn’t we have waited a little?

I have no authority to guide Trinamool on right or wrong. But having just become a legislator, if I oppose the party or act outside Didi, my people in Belghata will see me as a traitor. I would feel diminished in my own eyes. Therefore, whether in opposition, under pressure, or during criticism of the party, I will remain beside Mamata Banerjee. Many storms, harassment, and persecution may come my way for this, but I will maintain this stance. The person who gave me the door to become a legislator through the party symbol—now, during the party’s difficult times, I will not step away from her side. Let the workers remember this: when the party faced danger, some left me, but during the party’s crisis, Kunal Ghosh did not leave the party.

Joy Bangla.

P.S. If BJP tries to break some Trinamool members by offering incentives, I do not blame BJP. They have held ‘joining fairs’ before. We have also taken their people. Today, they are in power. Before criticizing them, I will look at our own house. Those who won recently as independents or have stepped away from the party and government, in their restless excitement of belated conscience, I will look at them. They did not win as independents. They won using Mamata Didi’s symbol, face, and campaign. Who elevated many of them? I will ask. From the start, mistakes were made in recognizing people, procedural mistakes were made, mistakes in work occurred. Huge mistakes. Yet there is no reason for other parties to act arrogantly.

Whatever happens, I stand with Mamata Didi.”
