Basically, the state government has taken this decision keeping in mind that the students do not lag behind in the third level.

Following the National Education Policy, four-year undergraduate courses have already been introduced in several states of the country. St. Xavier's University and Sister Nivedita University in the state have also introduced four-year undergraduate courses in line with the National Education Policy. Other state government universities are also mulling to introduce four-year undergraduate courses. The Education Department has taken initiative.

It is to be noted that Bratya informed in this context that a committee will be formed with the vice-chancellors of various universities. The committee will give an opinion on how this rule can be implemented in the case of different universities. The state education department formed such a committee. Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das was made the head of this 6-member committee. Resolved, that on the basis of the report of the committee, further steps will be taken with the four-year course. According to the Department of Education, the committee has given its opinion in favor of introducing a four-year undergraduate course as per the credit framework of the National Education Policy.

Incidentally, this time admission will be done centrally in all colleges of the state. But that website was framed as a three-year undergraduate course. In other words, if the admission process is conducted through this website, the students may face difficulties, so the department has informed that the online admission process has been suspended for the time being.
