IIE DIGITAL DESK : Kolkata, May 23: Trinamool Congress councillor of Ward No. 18 of the South Dum Dum Municipality, Sanjay Das, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday morning. His hanging body was recovered from his residence, triggering shock and tension in the local political circles. He was known to be a close associate of former Rajarhat-Gopalpur MLA Aditi Munshi and her husband, TMC councillor Debraj Chakraborty.

Sanjay Das was serving in an important position in the health department of the South Dum Dum Municipality as a CIC member. According to sources, family members and locals discovered him hanging inside his room on Saturday morning. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Nagerbazar, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The sudden death of the councillor has created a stir in the area. Local sources claimed that Sanjay Das had been suffering from depression for quite some time. However, the exact reason behind the incident is still unclear. Police have started an investigation into the matter and are trying to determine the circumstances that led to his death.
