Kolkata, June 3: Fresh political speculation has emerged in West Bengal over internal equations within the Trinamool Congress. Discussions have intensified in political circles regarding the possibility of a party split and the formation of a separate dissident group involving a section of MLAs.

The proposed initiative is allegedly being led by first-time MLA Ritabrata Banerjee along with Sandipan Saha. Political insiders suggest that preliminary discussions are underway about forming a separate bloc of dissident legislators within the state assembly. If such a bloc comes into existence, there is also speculation that Ritabrata Banerjee’s name could be proposed for the position of Leader of the Opposition, replacing the current claimant to the post.

There has been no official announcement regarding these developments so far. Neither has any ruling party response been issued on the matter, nor have party sources publicly confirmed the authenticity of these claims.
