Kolkata (June 29,2023) : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was unable to attend the Eid-ul-Adha namaz on Thursday due to injuries she sustained in a helicopter emergency landing on Tuesday. Banerjee was scheduled to offer namaz at the Red Road Eidgah in Kolkata. However, she was advised by doctors to rest at home due to the pain in her left ankle and shoulder.

"I am deeply saddened that I could not attend the Eid-ul-Adha namaz today," Banerjee said in a statement. "I wish all the Muslims a happy Eid." Banerjee's injuries were sustained when her helicopter made an emergency landing in Purulia district on Tuesday. She was on her way to a campaign event when the helicopter developed a technical snag.

Banerjee was airlifted to Kolkata and admitted to the SSKM Hospital. She underwent physiotherapy on Wednesday and her condition is said to be stable. However, doctors have advised her to rest for a few days. This is why she was unable to attend the Eid-ul-Adha namaz.
