The accident took place between 7:00 am and 7:10 am when, as usual, the child was playing near the base of a street lamp in the Hastings locality. Suddenly, part of the lamp structure reportedly became loose and fell onto the road, striking the child with severe force.

The injured child was immediately rushed to the S.S.K.M Hospital (also known as PG Hospital), where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The sudden and shocking death has left the local residents and family members devastated.

The exact cause of the accident is not clearly known. Preliminary information suggests that a portion of the street lighting system may have come loose due to structural failure or poor maintenance. However, officials have not yet issued a detailed technical explanation regarding how the lamp post fixture detached and fell.
