Kolkata (August 29,2023) : The intelligence department of West Bengal conducted an inspection of firecracker factories in the Barrackpore Commissionerate area on Tuesday, in a bid to restrict the occurrence of firecracker blasts. The inspection team, led by an officer of the rank of deputy inspector general (DIG), visited several factories in the area, including those located in Titagarh, Barasat, and Naihati. The team checked the safety measures in place at the factories and also spoke to the owners and workers.

The DIG said that the inspection was conducted following a series of firecracker blasts in the area in recent months. He said that the team found some factories that were operating without the necessary licenses and that they had not taken adequate safety measures.

The DIG warned the factory owners that strict action would be taken against those who violate the safety norms. He also asked them to ensure that the firecrackers are manufactured and stored in a safe manner. The inspection comes at a time when the state is gearing up for the festive season. The DIG said that the department will continue to inspect firecracker factories in the coming days to ensure that there are no accidents.
