IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Kolkata, June 12: The change of government in West Bengal, the administration led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has launched a “high-voltage action” against illegal Bangladesh infiltrators across the state. Acting on the Chief Minister’s earlier directive to identify and deport illegal infiltrators from the state, a large-scale crackdown has now been initiated in full swing. According to instructions from the State Home Department, West Bengal Police along with central security agencies have jointly begun this mega operation. From border districts to the heart of Kolkata, intensive checks, verification of forged documents, and arrests of suspected infiltrators are being carried out with wartime urgency.

Nabanna have indicated that, based on intelligence inputs, a statewide identification drive is underway to detect individuals who have been living in hiding using forged Indian identity documents such as Aadhaar cards and voter ID cards. The operation is not limited to border areas alone but is being conducted simultaneously across major urban and industrial regions of the state including Kolkata. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who also holds charge of the Home Department, personally held high-level meetings with the Director General of Police and senior intelligence officials to formulate the framework of this statewide crackdown.

Order to curb illegal infiltration and expose networks involved in the creation and circulation of fake identity documents, Special Investigation Teams have been formed in sensitive border districts including North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, and Malda. The administration has stated that the operation will continue in a coordinated and sustained manner to identify infiltrators and dismantle document forgery networks operating across the state.
