Actor Ajaz Khan Booked for Rape Amid 'House Arrest' OTT Show Controversy

IIE DIGITAL DESK : Mumbai, May 5, 2025 — Actor Ajaz Khan, known for his appearances in reality television and Bollywood films, has been booked for rape by the Charkop Police in Mumbai. The case follows a complaint by a 30-year-old woman alleging that Khan sexually assaulted her under the pretext of offering her a role in his web show 'House Arrest' and promising marriage.

According to the complaint, Khan invited the woman to host his show 'House Arrest', which streams on the Ullu app. During the shoot, he proposed to her and later promised to marry her after converting to her religion. The woman alleges that Khan invited her to his home, where he sexually assaulted her. She further claims that Khan told her his religion permits four marriages and that he would take full responsibility for her. The police have registered the case under sections 64, 64(2)(M), 69, and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 

This development comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding Khan's web show 'House Arrest'. The show has faced criticism for its content, with allegations of vulgarity and coercion. A viral clip from the show shows Khan pressuring contestants, including women, to perform intimate acts and respond to vulgar questions. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter, summoning both Khan and Ullu App's CEO Vibhu Agarwal to appear on May 9  

The Maharashtra State Women's Commission has also stepped in, urging the state's Director General of Police to take strict action against online platforms hosting vulgar and harmful content. MSWC chairperson Rupali Chakankar stated that such shows negatively impact young minds and often resort to vulgarity to gain views . 

Khan's show 'House Arrest', which began streaming on April 11, 2025, has been under scrutiny for its content. Political and social groups have called the show vulgar and demanded government action. BJP MLC Chitra Wagh has demanded an immediate ban on the show, alleging its content is harmful to society  

Ajaz Khan, who gained fame through reality TV shows like 'Bigg Boss' and has acted in films such as 'Rakta Charitra' and 'Allah Ke Banday', now faces serious legal challenges. The police investigation is ongoing, and Khan could be arrested at any time. 

The case has sparked widespread outrage and has raised questions about the exploitation of aspiring actors in the entertainment industry. Authorities are under pressure to ensure a thorough investigation and take appropriate action against those found guilty.
