
The illegal parking of toto vehicles on the bridge had been causing severe traffic congestion on the Howrah–Amta Road for a long time. Daily commuters and general passengers were facing significant inconvenience due to frequent bottlenecks in the area.
The operation conducted on Monday, traffic police seized several toto vehicles that were found illegally parked on the bridge for passenger pick-up. A number of drivers were also warned and strictly instructed not to operate any unauthorized stands on the bridge in the future.
Police sources stated that the presence of stationary toto vehicles during peak office hours was severely disrupting traffic flow, affecting both regular commuters and emergency service vehicles. The enforcement drive was therefore initiated to restore smooth vehicular movement in the area.
The Kona Traffic Guard confirmed that regular monitoring will continue to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement on Bankra Bridge and the Howrah–Amta Road. They also warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating traffic rules or contributing to congestion in the future.
