Asansol (August 11,2023) : The Tatanagar Municipality has sealed the ration shop of TMC councilor, Gautam Banerjee, on allegations of collusion with the local ration dealer. The municipality took action after receiving complaints from locals that Banerjee was colluding with the ration dealer to sell subsidized rice and wheat at higher prices.

The municipality officials raided the ration shop and found that there was no stock of rice and wheat. They also found that the ration dealer had been selling the subsidized grains at higher prices. Banerjee has denied the allegations and said that he is being targeted by political opponents. He has also said that he will take legal action against the municipality. The sealing of the ration shop is a major embarrassment for the TMC. It also raises questions about the party's commitment to providing essential commodities to the people at affordable prices.
