IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Birbhum, June 8: The state police administration, the West Bengal government on Monday transferred Birbhum Superintendent of Police Surya Pratap Yadav. An official notification regarding the changes in police postings across the state was issued by the government.

The notification, Surya Pratap Yadav has been moved from his post as Superintendent of Police of Birbhum and appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Kolkata. He had previously taken charge as district SP ahead of the last Assembly elections.

The government has appointed Bidit Raj Bhundesh as the new Superintendent of Police of Birbhum. He was earlier serving as Deputy Commissioner (DD, Special) in Kolkata Police.

In another key administrative change, IPS officer Gaikwad Nilesh Shrikant has been appointed in place of Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Rahul Mishra in the district administration.

Bolpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ricky Agarwal has been replaced by Arpit R Parakh, while Rampurhat SDPO Gobinda Sikdar has been replaced by IPS officer Mukuri Prince Kamal Teja.

The reshuffle is seen as part of routine administrative restructuring within the state police force, aimed at strengthening law and order management across sensitive districts. Officials have stated that the changes are effective immediately following the issuance of the notification.

The new appointments are expected to bring fresh administrative oversight in Birbhum and its subdivisions, where policing plays a crucial role in maintaining political and civic stability.
