Angry Trinamool MPs meet at Bhupendra's house, may form separate groups

IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, June 8: Political development unfolded on Monday as several dissenting Trinamool Congress (TMC) Members of Parliament reportedly held a meeting at the residence of Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav in New Delhi. The gathering has triggered speculation about the possibility of a separate political faction emerging within the party’s parliamentary ranks.

The meeting was attended by multiple TMC MPs, including Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Partha Bhowmik, Jagadish Basunia, Mitali Bag, Dev, Satabdi Roy, Rachana Banerjee, Sharmila Sarkar, Kalipada Soren, Arup Chakraborty, Asit Mal, Shatrughan Sinha, Prasun Banerjee, Pratima Mondal, and Bapi Halder. Senior leaders Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and Sukhen Dey (Sukhendu Sekhar Roy) were said to be leading discussions during the meeting.

The meeting centered around growing internal dissatisfaction within the TMC parliamentary group and the possibility of forming an independent political grouping while still remaining within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) framework. However, there has been no official confirmation from any of the attending MPs regarding the agenda or outcome of the discussions.

The proposed faction could potentially evolve into a more structured political entity in the future, depending on the outcome of ongoing discussions among the MPs involved. The development has added a new dimension to West Bengal’s political landscape, especially ahead of upcoming electoral battles.

Bhupendra Yadav, who currently serves as the Union Environment Minister and is also seen as a key BJP strategist in West Bengal, has played an important role in party organisation in the state, according to political observers. His residence reportedly became the venue for the high-level discussions involving the TMC MPs.

The presence of multiple senior parliamentarians at the meeting has sparked intense political speculation, although official responses from the Trinamool Congress leadership are still awaited.
