
In a message shared on social media platform X on Tuesday morning, the President expressed her heartfelt respect to the legendary leaders of the Santhal uprising, including Sidhu-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano, and other valiant men and women who laid down their lives during the historic movement.
She noted that the spirit of resistance shown by the Santhal community against oppression remains a powerful symbol of courage and identity. The President highlighted that the Santhal rebellion was not only a struggle against exploitation but also a historic movement for the protection of dignity, rights, and cultural identity of the tribal community.
President Murmu further emphasized that the bravery, sacrifice, and martyrdom of the Santhal heroes will continue to inspire the people of India forever. She said their struggle against injustice and their determination to safeguard their existence and heritage stand as a lasting example for all citizens.
The message comes as the nation observes Hul Diwas, commemorating one of the most significant tribal uprisings in Indian history. The Santhal rebellion is remembered as a powerful resistance movement that played an important role in shaping the history of tribal rights and social justice in the country.
