Mumbai, July 19, 2023 : Mumbai was on a red alert on Wednesday as heavy rains lashed the city, causing waterlogging in several areas and disrupting traffic.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in Mumbai and its suburbs for the next two days.
The city received 47.42 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, with the eastern suburbs receiving the highest rainfall of 50.04 mm. The western suburbs received 50.99 mm of rain.

The heavy rains caused waterlogging in several areas of the city, including Dadar, Parel, Kurla, Andheri, and Malad. Traffic was also disrupted in several parts of the city.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has deployed its teams to clear the waterlogging and remove debris from the roads.
The BMC has also asked the people to stay indoors and avoid venturing out unless it is absolutely necessary.The IMD has warned that the heavy rains may cause flooding in low-lying areas and disruption of power supply.
The people have been advised to take precautions and stay safe.
