IIE Digital Desk: An internal mistake on Facebook led to the temporary removal of a video posted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as confirmed by Meta, prompting the Indian government to respond quickly. The video was later restored and the social media giant said that it had been removed accidentally.

The occurrence happened when users discovered that a video from the Prime Minister's official Facebook account had been removed from public view. For a brief period, the video was not accessible due to its intention to educate young people about examination paper leaks and government action against responsible individuals.

The controversy was addressed by a spokesperson from Meta, who stated that the content had been removed in error and has since been reinstated. Despite the lack of detailed explanations, it was noted that the technical lapse was not deliberate and therefore not deliberately removed.

The temporary removal prompted the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to summon Meta's global head of public policy to inquire about it. Additionally, the government is reportedly taking the issue seriously and seeking clarification on how the Prime Minister's verified account could be removed, even a short-term.
