Heat Warning Issued for 14 Kerala Districts as Monsoon Fails to Make Onset

New Delhi (August 26,2023) : The districts that have been put on heat alert are Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod, Kottayam, Kollam, Malappuram, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, Wayanad, and Kozhikode. The IMD has said that the maximum temperatures in these districts are likely to be in the range of 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. The humidity levels are also likely to be high, making the weather uncomfortable.

The IMD has advised people to avoid heat exposure and to stay hydrated. They have also advised people to wear loose, light-colored clothing and to drink plenty of fluids. The monsoon is expected to make onset in Kerala in the next few days. However, the IMD has said that the monsoon is likely to be weak this year. The heat wave conditions in Kerala are a cause for concern, especially for the elderly and the people with chronic health conditions. It is important for people to take precautions to stay safe during this time.
