
IIE DIGITAL DESK ; Lucknow, June 11: Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday asserted that a government led by Suvendu Adhikari would take West Bengal towards a new path of development and progress. He made the remarks while addressing a press conference in Lucknow, where he also launched a sharp attack on the Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s administration.
Goyal alleged that the situation in West Bengal over the past several years reflects what he described as an “oppressive and harsh rule” under the current state leadership. He claimed that an atmosphere of fear had been created in the state and accused the government of discriminatory treatment towards citizens, which he said had pushed people into poverty and stagnation instead of development and welfare.
The Union Minister, West Bengal has not witnessed any meaningful progress or public welfare initiatives over the last fifteen years. He argued that the state has suffered from administrative failure, lack of development, and deteriorating governance during this period. Goyal further stated that people in the state are now openly expressing their views after what he described as a long phase of suppression.
He added that there has been a visible change in public expression following what he called a shift in the political atmosphere. According to him, citizens are now able to speak freely and share their opinions without fear. He also remarked that leaders such as Kalyan Banerjee now have greater freedom to express their views publicly.
The Union Minister went on to allege that the people of West Bengal have finally been “freed” from what he described as a pattern of mistreatment and oppression under the state leadership. He claimed that citizens are now able to express their grievances openly and participate more actively in political discourse.
Goyal expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with a future government led by Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal would move firmly on the path of development. He emphasized that such a government would focus on governance reforms, economic growth, and public welfare initiatives aimed at improving the condition of the state.
The ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition, with both sides intensifying their rhetoric ahead of future political battles in the state. The statement has further added to the ongoing political debate over governance, development, and law and order in West Bengal.
