New Delhi (August 22,2023) : The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief, Swati Maliwal, has alleged hooliganism by the police during a protest by women in the city. The protest was held on Monday against the rising crime against women in the city. The protesters were demanding better security for women. Maliwal said that the police had used force to disperse the protesters and had also manhandled them. She said that the police had also detained some of the protesters.

The police have denied the allegations of hooliganism. They said that the police had used mild force to disperse the protesters as they were blocking a road. The DCW has demanded an independent inquiry into the matter. They have also asked the police to release the detained protesters immediately. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of women in Delhi. It has also brought into question the role of the police in protecting women.
