
IIE DIGITAL DESK : Gandhinagar, March 18: A bomb threat sent via email sparked panic at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, prompting an immediate and large-scale security response. Authorities swiftly launched an intensive search operation across the assembly , ensuring the safety of lawmakers and staff amid heightened concerns.
The threat, received in the morning, claimed a possible bomb attack on the complex in Gandhinagar. Following the alert, local police, along with specialized teams, rushed to the scene. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a thorough of the premises, assisted by sniffer dogs to detect any explosive materials.
Senior police official Ravi Teja Vasmamshetty confirmed that despite an extensive search, no suspicious object or explosive device was found within the assembly grounds. He stated that after completing all safety protocols, the functioning of the assembly resumed as normal, easing initial fears.
Authorities have also initiated steps to trace the origin of the threatening email. A case will be registered against the unidentified sender, and a detailed investigation is underway to identify those responsible for triggering the false alarm. Security has been significantly tightened in and around the assembly complex, with a heavy police presence deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Reacting to the development, BJP leader Hirabhai Solanki asserted that the state government remains unfazed by such threats. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against those behind the email, adding that such attempts to create panic will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The incident highlights ongoing security challenges faced by key government institutions, even as authorities continue to maintain vigilance and preparedness. While the threat ultimately turned out to be a hoax, officials have reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and swiftly responding to any potential risk.
