IIE DIGITAL DESK ; New Delhi, June 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the achievements of the government's welfare-oriented initiatives as the nation marked 12 years of the Garib Kalyan Yojana. Reflecting on the journey through a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformative changes witnessed across India over the past decade and emphasized that the welfare of the poor and marginalized has remained at the heart of the government's development agenda.

Narendra Modi stated that India has undergone significant transformation during the last 12 years and that the central focus of these changes has been the upliftment of underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of society. He noted that the government's policies have consistently been inspired by the principle of Antyodaya, which seeks to ensure that the benefits of development reach the last person in society, particularly those who have remained deprived for decades.

The Prime Minister pointed to several flagship welfare schemes and initiatives that have been implemented over the years. These include the expansion of bank accounts under the Jan Dhan programme, the Direct Benefit Transfer system, the Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat, and various other social welfare measures. According to him, all of these initiatives have been guided by a common objective — ensuring dignity, opportunity, and a better quality of life for millions of citizens across the country.

Narendra Modi further emphasized the role of technology in improving the lives of economically weaker sections of society. He stated that digital platforms and direct benefit transfer mechanisms have played a crucial role in ensuring that government assistance reaches beneficiaries directly and transparently. As a result, leakages have been reduced, administrative efficiency has improved, and public trust in governance has been strengthened.

The Prime Minister also observed that the journey of Garib Kalyan has evolved beyond a government programme and has become a broader movement focused on human empowerment. He said that the combined efforts of welfare delivery, technological innovation, and inclusive development are contributing to the realization of the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” or Developed India.

The government's commitment to inclusive growth, Modi reiterated that empowering the poor remains one of the key pillars of India's development strategy. He expressed confidence that the ongoing efforts to improve access to basic services, financial inclusion, healthcare, housing, sanitation, and clean drinking water would continue to create opportunities for millions of people and strengthen the foundation of a more prosperous and equitable nation.

The Garib Kalyan Yojana completes 12 years, the Prime Minister's remarks underscore the government's emphasis on welfare-driven governance and its broader vision of transforming social and economic development into a collective movement aimed at empowering every citizen of the country.
