Rujira appears at CGO complex, two ED officials come from Delhi to interrogate Abhishek-wife
Kolkata [8th June 2023] : Rujira Narula Banerjee, the wife of Trinamool All India
General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, was scheduled to appear at the CGO complex
(where the Enforcement Directorate or ED is based) in Salt Lake on Thursday. He
attended the CGO complex around 12:30 pm on Thursday. Although he was supposed
to arrive by 11 am.
Rujira was detained at the Kolkata airport on Monday. She
went to Kolkata airport with her two children to catch a flight to Dubai around
7 am. But before catching the plane, the staff of the immigration department
'interrupted' Rujira. Abhishek-Patni left the airport after waiting for some
time.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned the 'inhumanity'
of the central government by bringing up the issue of arresting Rujira. He
claimed that Rujira had earlier informed the investigating agency ED about
going abroad. Questioning the role of the ED, the Chief Minister said, โSupreme
Court had given its permission. If she ever needs to go out of the nation, she has
to inform the ED. Accordingly, she informed the ED a month ago. Then ED could
have said 'You don't go.' But instead, they reached the airport with a hand-held
notice, that you come to the office on the 8th..., inhumane things are going
on.''
