Kolkata Waterlogged After Overnight Rains, Traffic Disrupted
Kolkata (August 03,2023) : Several areas of Kolkata were waterlogged on Thursday morning after heavy overnight rains. The waterlogging caused traffic disruption in several parts of the city, including Gariahat, Park Street, and EM Bypass. The waterlogging was particularly severe in low-lying areas such as Behala, Metiabruz, and Kidderpore. In some areas, the water level was knee-deep.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) deployed pumps to drain the water, but the operation was slow due to the heavy rains. The KMC has advised people to avoid unnecessary travel and to use public transport if possible.
